Did you know there are many words that can be made from the "ack, eck, ick, ock, and uck" word families? Kathy Griffin creates Five Word Families in a multimedia file to teach those word patterns and includes 56 words containing those patterns at the end of the file as teaching points for students. You can reinforce the short vowels sounds with these words. Work on reading or teach the phonemic awareness skill of substituting the first sound to make new words. Phonics can be fun!
This is a .mov file that can be opened with Quick Time on your computer. You no longer have to worry about syncing a power point with the song and setting the timing. It is ready to use on your students' computers or interactive whiteboard. You can use it with your Smart Board and pause during the slides to highlight words, letters, or strategies. Yes, it works on Quick Time. It is not Smart Board software, but works on a Smart Board or any other IWB or computer. Do you have Quick Time on your computer? Most computers do. Check and see - if you don't, it is a FREE download. I can walk you through it if you need help. If you have Quick Time, it will open automatically on your desktop. Turn on your Smart Board and you can view it and write over it. Go to my YouTube Channel Kathy Griffin's Teacher Channel to see how I use it on the Smart Board. My email is kathytps@aol.com. I am presenting at a conference out of state, but will check back in tonight to see if that worked for you. It is April 9 - 11:45 EST. Hi again, I am checking back in with you.
