This poster was created to give students a visual cue of what letters make more than one sound. This will help them to become more automatic with the decoding strategy of flipping the sound. It can be used for large group instruction, small group reteaching, independent practice, skill specific intervention, and as a reference for parents. Enjoy!!
***There was some confusion about the second picture for the "OU" sound which was a picture of a "group" of people. I uploaded a new version where I changed the picture to a bowl of "soup" instead. Hopefully this will be easier for your students to understand. Thanks!! (8/3/12)
This is an amazing resource! I tutor a little girl who often has trouble remembering how to flip the sound. The visual clues work well, once they gain an understanding of what the pictures stand for (e.g. student guessed wave instead of ocean)
