As a 1st grade teacher in a high poverty school, I am always looking for ways to help my students increase their reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. This 5 day packet includes a new fluency passage for each day with "Power Words" to encourage vocabulary development. Each passage includes comprehension questions, a parent checkoff section and some other type of supplemental language arts activity. This weeks packet includes two poems, one fiction story, one non-fiction passage and one song.
This would be beneficial as a general supplement to your reading program, as a reading intervention for high achieving 1st graders & 2nd graders, a literacy center, or as a take home packet. I hope you find it as useful as I do. (This is also located in the February packet as Week 4.)
I love the fluency packets. My kids really enjoy reading them. I look forward to starting the year with them next year!

I love these themed reading passages. My firsties are reading and reviewing one a day with me in Title, and then get to take home for practice and when they bring them back I give them a prize :) Extra incentive for practicing reading.

In the first sentence, the word "then" should be "than". there is a run on sentence and in the questions "use" is incorrect.

I have been a teacher for 10 years. I have taught Art, 1st grade and 3rd grade, but my heart is definitely in 1st. I love to create things that I think will make learning more fun for my students.
