This is a set of rubrics that can be used to help teach oral reading fluency with a focus on smoothness and accuracy. All three rubrics are on a 4-point system. Each rubric has the same expectations for each level but has a different term to describe the score.
Students in my class have an area of fluency they are working on. I use these rubrics in my classroom to help give students specific feedback to improve oral reading and to show them the connection between fluency and comprehension. I also use these rubrics with the Elmo so the class can give feedback during Reader's Chair to other students.

Fluency is such a difficult skill for students to understand! This product simplifies this skill and makes it easy to understand. My students pacing and expression improved after using this product. I love to listen to them read!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Grades Taught:
I have been a teacher in my mind for as long as I can remember! So many times, I fought with my sister and her friends to listen to me teach little lessons and grade fake papers. "School" was my favorite thing to play! Now I get to play real school everyday! I have been a "real" teacher for four years. My second home is in a bright, colorful third-grade classroom in Iowa full of bright, colorful little learners.
