PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This packet is a continuation of my other packet called: "Fluently Adding and Subtracting Within 5". That packet is for kindergarten. This packet is for first grade.

This activity is to help promote understanding of adding and subtracting within 10; this does not include the "within 5" cards. Those are featured in the other packet.

Students can work on this activity at centers or it can be a small or whole group activity. They will match up the pictures of the 10 frames with the correct number sentences.

There are 2 work mats that you need to laminate or use sheet protectors. Students will use an erasable marker to write their number sentences. I have also included numbers that you can cut out for students to place on the work mat if you wish. Make enough copies of the number cards so you have enough for possible addends and sums.

In addition to the 10 frames and number sentences, there are 4 different addition tests and 4 different subtraction tests to monitor fluency. In the right corner of each sheet there is a number so you can pass out different tests on the same day! Also there is a check sheet to record data. In the column where it says Addition and Subtraction, be sure to write the number of the test sheet they took so you can keep up with tests.

Hi Tammy,

I just downloaded this resource (Fluently Adding and Subtracting: First Grade) and I noticed that the Subtraction Work Mat has a plus sign (+) on it rather than a minus sign (-). I was just wondering if that was intentional. I like the way you put a colored counter under the number box on each mat. I'm just afraid that my little ones would get confused.

Thanks for a great resource!

On  April 5, 2014Tammy Ferrell answered:
That was not intentional :) I went back and corrected that and put in a subtraction sign. Thanks so much for pointing that out!!! Please go back and download the new file. I just posted the new one, so it may take awhile for the site to recognize it but I would say in about 30 minutes...it should be fine :) Thanks!!
