Go ahead and let your students play with their food! They can play with their paper bag puppets: a box of cereal, a carton of milk, a bottle of soda, a can of soup, an ice cream cone, a slice of bread, and a fish. At least one puppet from each food group! And speaking of food groups, they will love creating their sandwich book. Each page features a different food group and space for them to write five food items from that group. We have included food word flash cards and a whole page of flash card fun and games!
Staple the reproducible hamburger cover to sheets of blank paper and cut out to create a shape writing book. Have the students write and illustrate a page each day they learn about a new food group. The class can discuss what makes for a balanced meal and then draw it on their reproducible dinner plate.
Also included is a mini-storybook about eating well that the students can read themselves! Shape stationery includes a can of soda, box of cereal, bottle of juice and ice cream on a stick.
Your students will beg you to let them count, add and subtract with their very own gum ball machines, complete with gum ball manipulatives. When you are finished in the classroom, the students can take the gum ball machine home for more learning fun with the family!
There is so much more in this unit, such as graphs and mini-book covers! Two unit completion certificates are included: one to send home and one for display on the classroom "Wall of Fame."
Each page is available as a black & white student reproducible as well as a full color teacher sample! Over 30 reproducible pages full of tons of tasty activities!
