This is a complete five/six week unit full of experiments and activities to teach about the basic concepts of force and motion - particularly push, pull, friction, and gravity.

In this unit you will receive an introduction to teaching force and motion, material lists, procedures, and data recording forms for NINE experiments, and photos to guide your work all the way. Each section is so comprehensive, that you could even hand it to a substitute teacher, and they would have everything they need (although I selfishly always wanted to do this work with my kids myself - it is so fun!)

This is everything you need to make this unit so much fun for your students, and you!

This unit is rated K-1. Our new 2nd grade standards deal with Force and Motion.
Have you had any feedback from teachers in 2nd using the unit?

Thanks,
Barbara

I have had one user specifically mention using it with second graders successfully. Much of my feedback does not specify grades, so it is hard to say what grades they are using it with. However, I do try to differentiate the unit within the experiments so you could elevate it. It is really up to you!

Thank you for this brilliant unit! We had SO much fun today. I had the Mouse Trap plan in the back of my head and was going to create a record sheet from scratch...you did the hard work for me. Do you mind if I add screenshot of the Mouse Trap page, when I blog about it?

Thanks,
Laurie

I am so glad that you guys enjoyed it! I don't mind at all if you add a screen shot. I would love a link back to my store if you mention the unit specifically. What is your blog? I would love to read it and link to you from my blog. Thanks so much!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been working with young children since I was sixteen years old, and was a counselor in training at summer camp. After seven years counseling, directing, teaching, and organizing camping and outdoor education programs, I began pursuing my teaching certification. I interned and worked at a Head Start, a daycare, and a Reggio Emilia based child development center with young children, all before finding my home as a kindergarten teacher for the public school system. I have now had the honor and privilege of teaching kindergartners for six years, and each year has brought more adventures, learning, and joy!
