Many school language arts programs expect that students will learn about foreign words adopted and used verbatim in the English language. This four-page printable, part of a series I have produced on foreign words used in English, teaches about 25 common English words taken from Spanish.
Students read an introduction to the concept of foreign words (loanwords) and then clear definitions of the 25 Spanish words used in English. These definitions are followed by three sets of exercises designed to reinforce and practice the understanding of each word. Please see the Preview for the list of words taught in this lesson and the direction for each set of questions. I have used this printable in Grades 4-7, it just takes longer for the younger students to finish than the older one, but they can all do it. Answers provided.
