Your middle school students will love science when they are given the opportunity to solve the case of The Shop Burglar. Centered on a property crime, an unknown person has broken into the school shop class and has stolen a computer and a car engine. It appears the suspect broke a window and illegally entered the school shop class. Broken glass has been recovered at the scene and in the soles of the runners of the suspect. Fingerprints were lifted off the window frame and there are droplets of blood so the suspect may have cut themselves.
It appears the suspect may have ripped their clothing climbing through the window as there is a piece of material caught in the window frame. As well an apple core, a comb, and a pop can with lipstick marks have all been found at the crime scene. Tire marks from a bicycle are to the side of the broken window. Finally and of interest, there is also a blurry picture of the suspect taken by the school surveillance camera.
Students will work through 11 stations and collect evidence to build a case against one of three suspects. Included in the package are instruction cards and background information cards for 11 stations
