This is a hands on performance activity where students will use real National Football League statistics in order to calculate the decimal and percentage of successful kicks of several kickers.
Students will read to perform a task in order to make a paper football. Students will fill in a data table to show the number of successful "kicks" of each member in their group. They will then answer questions about the data including mean, decimal and percent values.
Students will conclude the task by creating a bar graph of the group's results.
Answer key for NFL data is included. Word & PDF versions included.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have 18 years of teaching experience, 4 years in elementary 14 in middle school. After 6 years of teaching Algebra 1 GATE and pre-algebra, I took on a new position as a math intervention specialist helping struggling math students, preparing lessons for teachers, and team-teaching with classroom math teachers. This year, I am also teaching an algebra 1 part 2 class. I truly believe in the necessity of teaching the "why" of mathematics. My favorite moments are the "Oh, now I get it!" ones.
