Now your students can play with their food! These fun mini-books allow students to learn all about fractions by "flipping" up portions of these booklets with a food theme to change the quantity revealed.
For example, for the "sandwich" book the students discover that their sandwich is cut into four equal pieces. They can "eat" parts of the sandwich by folding back portions to create 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 1/4 or even 0/4 once they've "eaten" it all! They can then take their sandwich home to demonstrate their understanding of fourths. There are booklets for the following fractions: halves (hamburger), thirds (ice cream cone), fourths (glass of juice and sandwich), sixths (pizza), eighths (Birthday cake), ninths (chocolate bar) and tenths (apples).
This hands-on experience sure beats those fill-in-the-blank worksheets!
Each page is available as a black & white student reproducible as well as a full color teacher example. No more summers spent coloring in samples!
