This is a lesson designed to encourage active reading and literary thinking. The lesson asks the student to compare Walton and Frankenstein as he/she reads "The Letters". The lesson can be completed as a class, in think-pair share groups, or individually. The zip file includes a blank chart with student directions and an answer key. The preview shows you the chart and one example answer from the key. The student chart also includes an after-reading writing assignment. I usually have the students complete the chart in groups and through class discussion and then require the written response as an individual assignment.

Help
I have taught middle school for fifteen years in a large suburban district just north of Atlanta, Georgia. I have taught all three grade levels both language arts and social studies. This year, I will be serving as the school's full-time literacy coach.
