Kids love to text on their cell phones, so here is a fun spelling activity that puts those skills to work! Great for differentiated spelling programs. For a fun variation, have students switch papers to find the words.
There is one sheet for 16 words and another for 20 words.

This is a wonderful way to challenge my more proficient spellers, I have two or three lists going in the classroom, great practice.

I love your stuff! This phone spelling idea is just the kind of "twisted" approach to learning that keeps gifted kids coming back for more. My passion is creating high quality, ready-to-use teaching resources. I believe our future depends on our children being able to think creatively and critically, so I incorporate higher level thinking skills into almost everything I create.
Most of my experience is in gifted education grades 1-4. But I have also taught regular education to all elementary grade levels. I've taught workshops on writing and have had extensive experience teaching elementary science as well as technology.
