This is a fun way for students to practice or review the Conditional in French. The activity is based on a Sudoku puzzle, but requires students to match verb forms with subjects. The student begins with a subject and verb form and must locate all of the correct forms in the grid and write the corresponding number (there are 9 of each number 1-9 as in a regular Sudoku puzzle). Students can then check their work by either making sure that each column, row and diagonal has only one of each number 1-9 or by counting up the sum of each column, row and diagonal, which will all equal 45. These activities work great as homework assignments or as work left for a substitute teacher.

I have been teaching World Language (French, Spanish, Italian) at the elementary, middle and high school levels for 16 years. I regularly present foreign language teaching methodology workshops at state, regional and national conferences and in teacher preparation programs at various universities. I have spent time volunteering in schools in impoverished areas of Nicaragua and a portion of the money earned through TPT is used to buy school supplies (pencils, paper, books) for students at the Panama School in La Concha, Nicaragua.
