This guided reading unit includes a lesson plan for each of the 5 stories, follow up writing and drawing activities and a variety of questions to ask before, during and after reading each story. Everything you need for your reading group is ready to go.
The details:
A lesson plan for each story, including suggested discussion questions for your reading group before and after reading each story.
A variety of question types {basic content comprehension, inferring questions, character feelings and personal connections} for students to answer in writing and orally.
Worksheets to follow-up each story prepared in 2 versions. One version uses straight lines for students who have mastered printing clearly. The second version is done in dotted lines for those students who still need to practice their printing and proper letter formation. Follow up activities vary to include content comprehension, inferences, character feelings, problem and solution and personal connections.
An answer key is also provided.

I have been teaching for 20 years in a variety of school systems. 20 years ago I spent 4 years teaching ESL overseas and upon my return home to Canada I then spent 4 years teaching French Immersion in K, 1, 4, 5. This was followed by teaching Grade 1 for 5 years at an international school Japan with a large and varied ESL population mixed in with native speakers of English. I am now back in Canada teaching Grade 1 French Immersion again.
