This is an interactive emergent reader and poster set for teaching students to read and write color words in a hands-on way. Each page of the Fruity Colors book includes a predictable sentence and picture to support emergent readers. This set also includes posters for the teacher to color and display in the classroom as an additional support.
Prep:
Copy all pages of the Fruity Colors book and the corresponding number word cutouts for each student. Separate book pages by cutting each 8.5x11” sheet in half horizontally and staple the books together for students.
Print 1 copy of each full-page poster sheet and color the pictures with matching crayons. Mount on 9‘x12” construction paper, laminate, and display in the classroom for student reference.
You can separate the color word cutouts and distribute 1-2 words at a time in class, or provide students with full sheets of cutouts for a Literacy Center.
Directions for Use:
Hang color word posters in the classroom to introduce the spelling of color words. Each time a new color word is learned, distribute the new color word to students. Have students color with the appropriate colored crayon, then cut letters apart on the dotted lines, mix the letters up, unscramble, and glue letters in correct order on corresponding page in booklet. The fruit featured on the booklet page can also be colored to match the completed sentence.
