In Spanish! This unit is filled with delicious, healthy, fat-free educational activities! Begin the unit by making a fruit salad and a vegetable salad. Allow the students to examine the fruits and vegetables, inside and out. Let them see, touch and taste the different ingredients. Show them the seeds and explain how they germinate into plants. This is one assignment that you can really sink your teeth into!

A basket of fruit serves as a cover for a writing book. Simply staple it to any kind of paper and cut out. For more writing fun, give them apple-shaped stationery. Have the students choose from among four paper bag puppets (a pineapple, a banana, an apple, or a pear) for a fantastic opportunity to increase oral language skills.

This unit contains not one, but two reproducible mini-books that deal with counting, colors and the names of fruit. There are tons of picture flash cards to increase student vocabulary and for use in a variety of reading games. An ABC-patterned (red, green, yellow) apple numberline is a great way to teach counting skills and a cut-and-paste fruit stand will provide a fun shopping experience! There are art projects galore, including a spinning apple mobile, a grocer with moveable arms and legs, and a color-by-number basket of apples.
