This is a handout for a fun activity involving using insults of William Shakespeare. I like to do this activity before reading any of Shakespeare's comedies to discuss his humor and get students familiar with the language again. This is fun and breaks the ice for bringing out Shakespeare. I especially like to use it before teaching Much Ado About Nothing, Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, Taming of the Shrew and Midsummer Nights Dream.

Before becoming a teacher, I was a substitute teacher as I attended my undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Geneseo. I have been a high school English teacher in New York State for 10 years. My undergraduate work consisted of Secondary Education with Concentration in English and History from SUNY Geneseo. My master's degree concentrated on integrating technology into the curriculum from the University of Phoenix Online. Many of my lessons integrate the use of technology in some way. I have been a teacher author for Teachers Pay Teachers since March of 2007.
