I use these farewells at dismissal with my students. I have them posted by my back door and as each child leaves he/she chooses a farewell for me to say to them. It becomes a beloved ritual, ending the day on a positive note! I find that it really helps build a positive classroom environment too! Having a special way to say good-bye at the end of the day is another bond between teacher and student.
Since the farewells all rhyme, it is also built-in rhyming practice for my ELL students who need to hear rhymes as often as possible!
If you enjoy this daily routine with your students, please follow my blog, Herding Kats In Kindergarten, where I share more ideas, tips and freebies! Thank you and enjoy!

I say similar farewells to each of my students, and they get a kick out of it each time. I love that I have a visual to go with my goodbyes that they can CHOOSE from to make it more personalized and interactive. Thank you for improving my classes' goodbye routines!
Thanks for sharing. My kids were obsessed with these kinds of good byes last year. It'll be fun to have them hanging by the door this coming year. Thanks for sharing.

Jennifer:
I love your "fun farewells" but when I try to download them the download is encrypted. Are they still available?
Thanks,

Hi! It sounds like you need to update your Adobe Reader. Check here for the free update:
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
Also, if you're on a Mac make sure you are opening the file with Adobe and not Preview - just open up the Adobe program and then use it to open the file. That should fix it! Let me know if you have any other issues :)
Thanks,
Jennifer

Jennifer,
Would you be able to create a desk name tag for me using the "Where The Wild Things Are" characters? Kind of like the folder covers except I only want the alphabet, numbers 1-20, and a space for first and last name.
Thanks,
Sheryl Donathan
