This is a rubric for a story book or comic book with fungus as the main characters. Students make a book out of computer printer paper and then write/print a story of their choice. They are expected to draw pictures and include information somewhere in the book such as how the fungi gets nutrients, where it lives, and what its scientific name is. Some of my students used the Hunger Games or Biggest Loser as a theme to their story. I had a mobile lab available for them to look up pictures of fungi and other information such as the scientific name. I provided an entire week for this project. My students loved it and really were excited about their stories.

LOVE IT! Doing this next week with my middle schoolers. Do you give any other requirements or other intro sheets that you give with the rubric or is it only this?

I explain the project verbally and then just give them the rubric. I let them be as creative as they want as long as they have everything on the rubric. I'm glad you like it! I'm sure your your students will too! Thanks for the review.

I liked this rubric, but I do wish there was a porject page that I could have used to hand out with it. I ended up making one of my own with guidelines and expectations. My kids really enjoyed this project though! Great idea!
