The kids LOVED this! Before they could create their fuzzy creature, they had to do the math to divide the supplies evenly among five teachers and then again among the five groups of students. They also had to estimate the cost for the teachers and determine the fractional pieces of their creature. For the first time, I had a student that never saw the point of division asking me how. He WANTED to divide. :-)
The supplies for students to make the project is about $5.00 a class. I bought the kit at Wal-Mart in 2/2012.
Math Performance Event:

Five teachers want to share the total number of supplies evenly. How many of each item will they get?
Now, each teacher has to divide her supplies evenly among her groups of students to create the critters. Each teacher divides her students into five groups.
