You or your students can decide on the letters to fill in the chart as students go in search of nouns that begin with letters and fit into various categories. Some research is probably required. This is an alternative to my holiday noun charts for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. if students don't celebrate any or all of these holidays. They'll have lots of fun doing this activity.

I have taught for 36 years at the 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade levels. Fifth grade is my first love. I teach all major subject areas. In addition to my regular classroom duties, I have taught in a Basic Skills summer school program for many years as well as taught workshops to co-workers in whole language and technology.
