These 32 multiple choice task cards are perfect for reinforcing generalization skills. These cards are meant to be used as supplementary reading strategy materials after you have introduced the concept. Students can use these cards individually at a center or they could also test each other in pairs. Another option is to use the cards with the whole class for the game SCOOT. An answer sheet is provided for students to use to record their answers. They can also check their answers on the included answer key.

These cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring. A label for your baggie or card ring is also included.

Task cards for determining if a generalization is valid or faulty are also available.

Hi,
I love your task cards. Would you be willing to make a test prep based on our ccss crt prep? I have a sample that I could send you of the type of questions I would like. Let me know :) Thanks for all of your great resources!

Hi Jaime,

Very possibly, yes. I can't promise till I see what you have in mind, but if it looks like it will have a decent market, I would love to make them and give them to you for free as a token of thanks for coming up with the idea. Please email me at reallyrachel@gmail.com and we can go from there.

Best,

Rachel

I love your task cards - my students use them every day to practice a skill we are working on and they don't feel like they are doing "too much work." On the generalization task cards, the answer key and answer sheets is labeled "context clues"; am I correct to assume the answers are the answers for the generalization cards?

Thanks for letting me know! So sorry for the mistake. There were actually a couple of other mistakes that I corrected as well as this one. If you go to your product page you can download the revised version. Again, so sorry!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching. I also love knowing that my products help thousands of teachers and reach tens of thousands of students.
