Use these 42 Generalization Cards for discussion or writing prompts. These cards are meant to be used as supplementary activities once students are familiar with the concept of generalizations. These will work well with the whole class, with small groups, or as individual writing activities. Extend the activity by asking students to make their own generalizations, or to rephrase a faulty generalization to make it valid.

These cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Another option is to print on cardstock.

Multiple choice generalization task cards are also available.

Is there an answer sheet to this activity similar to the other task cards?

Not for this one. I didn't create one because the answers are to some degree subjective and the examples that students give to support their positions could be from their own lives. Sorry!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Most of my teaching experience is with gifted and talented students in grades 2-4, though I have worked with children of all ages in general education classrooms as well. A few years ago I stopped teaching in order to write nonfiction children's books full time. Gradually over the last couple of years, my career has switched from writing to creating teaching materials here on Teacher Pay Teacher. I love creating teaching products (most recently task cards) and feel just as passionate about my work now as I did when I was teaching. I also love knowing that my products help thousands of teachers and reach tens of thousands of students.
