These 7 worksheets of genetics practice problems will take you through an entire unit on genetics. These were written for my standard level Biology class, but would be appropriate for middle school and high school grades, 8 - 12.
These are easily editable to meet your needs. You will receive both an editable Word document and pdf form of each practice problem worksheet
ALL ANSWERS ARE INCLUDED.
These products are also available in my store individually, but you save money by buying this bundle. If purchased individually, the cost would be $10.50. Below is a brief description of each product as well as a link that will take you to the individual product, where you can download a preview of each.
1. Monohybrid Mice!
This is a two page worksheet that has 4 monohybrid problems. Each problem requires the student to fill in the Punnett square, fill in a table of genotypes and phenotypes and probabilities, and answer 7 to 8 questions about each problem. This can be used as an introductory worksheet, as a homework assignment, or as a short quiz on monohybrid crosses.
2. Monohybrid Worksheet
This worksheet has 10 monohybrid (or one factor) crosses. This worksheet provides the needed practice to insure that beginning genetics students master this early and simple concept. Students will determine the genotypes of parents and predict the probability of obtaining different types of offspring by using a Punnett square.
3. Dihybrid Worksheet
This is a worksheet of 11 dihybrid, or two factor, genetics practice problems. The worksheet provides extra practice for the beginning genetics student. Students will determine the genotypes of the parents, fill in the 16 box Punnett square, and answer questions about the probability of obtaining various offspring.
4. Nondominance Worksheet
The worksheet has 10 practice problems on incomplete dominance or nondominance. The students will determine the genotype of the parents, fill in Punnett squares, determine the genotypes and phenotypes of the offspring, and determine the probability of obtaining the various offspring. Some of the problems are monohybrid (one factor) problems and some of the problems are dihybrid (two factor) problems.
5. Codominance and Multiple Alleles Worksheet
This product is a 3 page practice problem worksheet on codominance and multiple alleles. The problems cover blood types and coat color in rabbits. There are 13 problems. Some of the problems are monohybrid and some of the problems are dihybrid.
6. Sex Linkage
This product is a 7 page practice problem worksheet on sex-linked genetic traits. There is a wide variety of problems that cover colorblindness, hemophilia, eye color in fruit flies, etc. There are 19 problems and many of these 19 problems have numerous questions that must be answered. All of the problems involve sex linkage and sex-linked genes. Some of the problems are monohybrid and some of the problems are dihybrid.
7. Pedigree Tables
This product is a 3 page practice problem worksheet on pedigree tables. There are 4 pedigree tables: one on blood types, one on Queen Victoria, famous carrier of hemophilia, one on sex-linked colorblindness, and one with simple dominance and recessiveness. Students will determine the genotypes of family members in each table. Two of the tables have several questions to be answered.
