Areas of Focus within this PowerPoint: This PowerPoint begins describing some various Phenotypes and gets students involved right away rolling their tongue, looking for widows peak, attached ear lobes and much more. Students then see a wheel that describes their genetic number and see if any other students share their genetic phenotypes, Important vocabulary is described and instructions on how these terms will appear in blue print is described. The PowerPoint then goes on to describe these important notes by describing Gregor Mendel and his work with pea plants, Dominance and recessive, Punnett Squares, Homozygous, heterozygous, How gender is determined, and a focus on probability are all discussed. After a tutorial on Punnett Squares, students go the pet store and get two black gerbils. After several rounds of inbreeding and step by step Punnett squares, the black gerbils (Heterozygous) have white offspring over many generations. Dihybrid crosses are then described in step by step fashion as well as codominance and much more. Genetic Disorders are then covered one at a time with some visuals. A project has the same students from the prior activity partner up and research a genetic disorder. The activity is a circle meeting and parents (students) discuss a genetic disorder. Bio-ethics are then covered with description of ethics, and then both sides of current debates covered with a focus on stem cells, cloning, and artificial life. Many video links are provided. This is a really informative, interactive, and fun PowerPoint that all will enjoy learning from.

This PowerPoint includes critical notes (Red Slides), exciting visuals, challenge questions, activities with directions and more. Text is usually placed at the top of the slide so it can be read from all angles of a classroom. Color coded slides, as well as a shade technique is used to increase student focus and allows the teacher to control the pace of the lesson. These PowerPoints are meant to be interactive as possible and ask many questions, provides built in review opportunities, explains directions to activities, and much more.
