These documents were created in response to our county assessments, which asked lots of questions about genre. The power point includes characteristics for eight genres: fiction, non-fiction, drama, satire, historical fiction, science fiction, poetry, and technical writing. The word document includes the notes from the power point and a blank sheet. For my lesson, I gave the students the notes cut apart and placed into envelopes. They worked together to match the genres and then we reviewed the answers using the power point. They pasted the bank sheet into their writer's notebook and took notes on it. This is nothing fancy!!
