Need to include or meet that ACTFL culture "C?" How about including one of the most interesting Black History units ever? A significant number of Spanish speakers have African ancestry, & Spanish is their first language in Cuba, Puerto Rico, & the Dominican Republic. This geography unit in Spanish does both, in addition to teaching vocabulary, phrases, and even some grammar. Heavy on map skills, the visual nature of it and the simple Spanish readings are perfect for novice learners grades 1-12.
