Students may not love math, but they do love food... especially cookies. Students will be given the opportunity to take ONE bite of their yummy gingerbread man cookie. They will need to be reminded that they can only take one bite... the rest will be finished after the activity. Students will then graph the body part they took the bite of: head, right or left arm, or right or left leg. Once they graph their information, they can finish their cookie while answering questions using the graph.
I like this activity, and my students CANNOT get too much graphing practice this year. It sounds like you need build the graph on a class chart which is great. In my most humble opinion, it would be nice to have a smaller graph for the students to fill in, too. Then they could use that to answer their questions and their families could see the graph as well as the answers to their questions. I love this idea, though, and appreciate the thought behind your plans. The kids will really enjoy it!
