Many teachers are wary of using Google Earth in the classroom. However, students who spend many more hours than adults do playing on the Internet would welcome the challenge of using technology in the classroom.
This activity invites students to consider current hurricanes through Google Earth. Students respond to several questions using information available on this computer application. The activity is also linked to a recent New York Times article.
I am more than happy to work with you so that you feel comfortable using this activity in your classroom. Students in my class used this activity in small groups. However, if you have a smart board you can also use the activity frontally.

Help
My experience as a camp administrator and school teachers have both influenced my content development work. Students have to have a good time while they are learning or it'll be difficult to learn. I have worked with pre-schoolers, elementary school students, middle school students, high school students and post college graduates.
