TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught in urban and rural settings as well as all levels of student (gifted to learning disabled.) From 2001 to the present I have worked at the North Carolina Governor's School, a residential program for gifted and talented high school students. From 2001-2006, then 2009-present, I have taught English/Humanities for grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. (I did not teach from 2007-2009 because I was a full time PhD student.) I have taught Honors 9th grade English (genre study), Honors 10th grade English (world literature and writing), 10th grade English (inclusion class), Honors 11th grade English (American literature), 11th grade English (inclusion), Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, SAT prep, Philosophy, General Conceptual Development, Independent Inquiry, and Adolescent Social-Emotional Development. From 1998-2005 I taught for The Princeton Review. I conducted classes in SAT and GRE test preparation. I have a strong record of interdisciplinary collaboration and team-teaching with history instructors.
