Grammar Toolkit helps upper elementary, middle school, and high school teachers differentiate grammar instruction for all of their students. A reliable, whole-class multiple choice assessment with recording matrix pinpoints areas of grammatical deficiencies for each student. Targeted grammatical worksheets with formative assessments (and answers) help your students practice their deficiencies and master all the conventional grammar skills. Also provided are remedial worksheets for fragments, run-ons, subject and predicate, sentence structure, and more. Heres what you get in Grammar Toolkit

Diagnostic Grammar Assessment
*Comprehensive and prescriptive whole-class diagnostic grammar assessment in multiple choice formatuse Scantrons® if you wish. Everything in the standards-based scope and sequence of instruction is assessed.
*A grammar recording matrix makes assessment data entry simple and progress monitoring efficient. The matrix also informs teachers how many targeted grammar worksheets need to be printed to address the individual needs of their students as indicated by the diagnostic data.

Grammar Worksheets
*Get 40 targeted grammar and mechanics worksheets, aligned to each skill tested in the diagnostic assessment. Each worksheet includes definitions, examples, skill practice, and writing hints about how to apply the skill within authentic writing. Students complete only those worksheets indicated as un-mastered skills by the diagnostic assessments.
*Students complete a grammar worksheet (takes about 10 minutes). Then, they self-correct and self-edit from the answer sheets. After completing each worksheet, students take a short formative assessment and then mini-conference with their teacher to determine whether the skill has or has not been mastered. Again, teachers can use a simple point system to award students for their efforts.

Materials in Grammar Toolkit (81 pages) have been selected from the comprehensive curriculum: Teaching Grammar and Mechanics, by the same author (available here at TpT), and include the content of this book. Also get a full year of 64 Sentence Lifting lessons, formatted for your SMART board or overhead/LCD projector. These scripted 15-minute lessons provide explicit and systematic direct instruction in standards-based mechanics, spelling, and grammar skills. Lessons use mentor texts (student and literary examples), sentence combining, and sentence manipulation activities. Get a diagnostic mechanics assessment with recording matrix and 32 mechanics worksheets. Everything the writing teacher needs to teach students to speak and write with proper grammar, as well as use correct mechanics and conventional spelling is provided in this systematic, standards-based curriculum. No other grammar textbook or workbook is needed.

I'm confused on the difference between the toolkit and the openers toolkit. Could you please fill me in. I think I like the format, but I need clarification. Thanks!

I'm purchasing you Grammar Toolkit after going over the preview. I want to quit teaching what many (but not all) of the students already know. Looks like a manageable way to finally teach what they need. However, I need you to help me: Q.1 of Grammar Assessment - Why isn't "man" a correct choice? Your key indicates the correct answer as "her." I would think either is correct.
Thanking you in advance for your response!

Oops! The answer is man. Her would be a pronoun, of course. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. It is correct on my website. Suggest you download the grammar assessment at http://penningtonpublishing.com/assessments/Grammar%20Assessment.pdf on www.penningtonpublishing.com. Will fix on TpT.
