Here are 22 appealing graphic organizers to use with any book (The document is 38 pages long because most of the graphic organizers are offered in two formats: with lines and without lines). Graphic organizers are great tools for analyzing literature. In addition, they are highly motivating for students. With that in mind, I designed these with inviting shapes and easy-to-understand formats. Each graphic organizer is ready-to-use and includes student directions.
These work well for independent reading or when you do not have a comprehension guide. They can be used again and again, even within the same book. Some will also work well for nonfiction. With a little tweaking to the directions, some can even be used for other subjects (for example,
Word Blast! could be used with spelling or vocabulary,
Cause and Effect could be used for science or history).
The Common Core Standards addressed in this resource are written out by grade level for easy reference (see preview for standards). These will print out great in color or in grayscale.
