A science class can be overwhelming with facts and information. Graphic organizers such as concept maps, event chains, and cycle maps are invaluable tools to help a student organize complex concepts by breaking them down into smaller parts. Students will quickly realize that this is a skill that can be applied in all subjects as they study for mastery before a test.

Three types of graphic organizers are taught in this lesson. They are: Concept maps, event chains, and cycle maps. These three types of graphic organizers can be used for any type of science concept or reading passage.
In both the PowerPoint and the practice problem worksheets, students are given passages of scientific information to read. The student will first decide what type of graphic organizer would be best for the passage. Then, the student will organize and draw the appropriate graphic organizer.
Documents are included as Word documents as well as in PDF form. All answers are included.
