This unit contains 5 separate graphing activities. In the first activity, student create a bar graph of the depths of different oceans and answer follow-up questions. In the second activity, students collect tally colors of m&ms and use this data to create a bar graph and answer questions. In the third activity students create a bar graph of the diameters of the planets and answer related questions. In the fourth activity, the laboratory activity, students record the temperature of hot water as it cools over a 30 minute period. They use three different containers for this water, which will all have a different cooling rate. The last activity is a quiz. The quiz assesses their ability to create and answer questions on a bar graph, pie chart, and line graph.
This unit was created for a 9th grade lower level science class. It would be appropriate for other similar classes, or younger students. Please see the preview to determine if the difficulty level suits your needs!
