Many kids enjoy candy and this lesson incorporates goodies with learning! One very important standard for students to understand about is graphic sources or the various graphs used for data. This type of lesson can be entertaining for students and a break from the ordinary for teachers.
This is a two part document. This first part is the actual lesson itself. You'll notice I use the book Tiger Math with this lesson on graphing. I would say the unit could take between 4-6 days depending on how your students move along. I've also included the ever important ELA sentence frames that can be used. This is generally a whole class unit. The second part of this document is titled Graphing with Jellybeans 2 and is the worksheet students will use to collect data.

I have been an ESOL elementary teacher for 7 years now. I've mostly worked with 5th grade students; however, I am currently working with 2nd graders. I've had other jobs/careers and teaching is the most fulfilling profession I've ever had! I continue to grow as an educator and very interested in learning more from others.
