This eight page unit is create with fun in mind! The first page is an informational page about the legend of Groundhog's Day. The second page is a "make a word" activity. The third page is an activity titled "Whose Shadow is This?" It is a hit with the students. Also included are an original poem, a mad lib type story that once all of your students have completed this activity, can be placed in your reading center, multiplication page, tongue twisters for your fluency center, and a page of book titles that relate to Groundhog's Day.

This is my 11th year of teaching. I taught first grade for three years, fourth grade for three years, reading coach for one year, literacy coach for grades 4th-12th for two years, fifth grade teacher for one year and presently I teach sixth grade! WHEW! I have been the Teacher of the Year for my county twice and for my state district once!
