I love this display. Throughout the year my students and I generate some unique vocabulary words and this is the perfect way to display them. Trim and tape the flower head together and add your own stem - I just use green construction paper that's been trimmed and laminated. Now the fun begins, each time your class discovers a great word, write it on one of the leaves. I laminate the leaves and have them precut. I write the word on the front, then the definition on the back in permanant marker. I put the leaves on the stem with sticky tack. Students can view the words throughout the year and can check the back of the cards for definitions when needed. You can grow a garden too! In some years, I have printed a few flowers for a bulltein board and done a lesson on word choice for commonly used words (said, color words, looked, etc.). We have used thesauruses and dictionaries to find words with more pizazz and have had a "said" flower, a "looked" flower, etc.
