This packet includes background information on Haiku poems and instructions on how to use the activities.
Activities:
*counting syllables in sentences and phrases and sorting them by 5 syllables and 7 syllables.
There is a sheet for students to write down the sentences to show understanding.
*Matching parts of a Haiku poem.
Themes of poems: Rain, Winter, Mother, School
Students will cut and paste the parts in the correct order ontop of the 5,7,5 of a sheet. They will give their poem a title.
* A sheet for students to write their own poem and illustrate a picture.
*cute clipart of an umbrella and raindrops for students to write haikus about spring or rain.

Tammy-this is a great haiku pack! The graphics are cute but best of all is the hands on sorting activities before the students try their hand at writing their own haikus. What a great resource~thanks!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have 10 total years of teaching experience in grades 1st-4th in North Carolina. I am now a stay at home mom, busy teaching my 4 year old and 2 year old. My experiences as a teacher and mom go into every product I make. I create items that hopefully make a teacher's classroom organized and lessons where their students stay highly engaged.
