Have fun with a Halloween theme as you teach your students to write acrostics., Everyone can be successful with this easy poetry format and you will all be excited to see the results. Post the poems on a Halloween bulletin board so students may share their creations. This 10-page packet includes handouts for 9 different acrostics using Halloween topic words, from easy (cat) to harder (Halloween). Most handouts have a sample acrostic and a fun picture to get students thinking. My teaching experience includes 25 years as a K-12 teacher, curriculum administrator, and district federal/state programs administrator. As a teacher, I specialized in middle school language arts and mathematics. Since retiring from the K-12 system, I have been teaching curriculum and education courses at the bachelors' and masters' degree levels as well as supervising student teachers. I am also a successful grant writer, specializing in competitive state and federal grant projects. As a private contractor, I also work to help teachers who need assistance to improve their skills.
