Are you looking for a clever way to justify allowing your kids to dress up at school on Halloween? If so, this is the resource for you!
This activity allows students to dress up as a book character and present information about their chosen book to the class. The project addresses many of the ELA Common Core Standards for 4th grade such as:
* Written summarization of a text
* Character Traits
* Book Theme and Genre
* Speaking and listening
This resource packet is intented to be printed and given to the students. It contains a scoring rubric, student preparation guide sheet, list of character traits, explanation of book themes and common themes found in children's literature, and a genre overview.
This is a project my kids enjoy year after year! I have just "tweaked" the presentation requirements to better meet the new common core standards. It is written to address fourth grade standards, but I think it is easily adaptable to third and fifth grade as well.
