In Spanish! Don't be frightened! This holiday unit is not at all scary! You'll find kid-friendly pumpkins and a few of their costumed pals. Begin the unit with a pumpkin-shaped writing book cover and Halloween-themed flash cards. A reproducible mini-book features the search for a perfectly round pumpkin. Along the way, students are introduced to all kinds of shapes.
For writing activities there are plenty of stationery choices: a smiling pumpkin, a gigantic bat and a goofy ghost. Allow the students to create their Halloween diorama complete with a haunted house and trick-or-treaters! There are figures with moveable parts, including a bat, skeleton and scarecrow. Make a pumpkin numberline, a pumpkin windsock and a pumpkin mobile!
There are many other holiday projects, such as make your own monster stick puppets, paper bag puppets (pumpkin, witch, bat, snake and ghost) as well as a calendar for the month of October. You'll have a "spooktacular" time!
