An altered book for the art class is a wonderful tool for teaching many art techniques. It gives the art student the opportunity to make artistic decisions about drawing, painting, composition, color, and design. The creation of this book can be used to enhance and reinforce art techniques and processes and can be created in a variety of mediums. The altered book could also be used in a collaborative setting with social studies, other fine arts classes, science, English and foreign language classes. This lesson can be modified for junior high and elementary classes as well.
