This mini unit is a perfect way to inform students about the importance of Memorial Day.
In this unit you will find:
1) "What is Memorial Day?" - An article on Memorial Day - what it is, the history of it, and how we celebrate today. There are student questions to go along with the article.
2) "Never Forgotten" - Students think about what it means to be free and writes down freedoms that they enjoy in their own lives.
3) "3-in-One Memorial Day Words Activity" - There are a total of 20 colorful word cards that students can use in 3 ways: ABC order, sentence writing, and poem writing. (Student recording sheets for provided for each activity.)
4) "Fact and Opinion" - students read several facts and opinions on colorful cards about Memorial Day and decide if the sentence is a fact or an opinion. Students show their work on the provided recording sheet.
In all there are 6 activities that you can use in your classroom to celebrate Memorial Day.
