This New Year handout defines what a custom is and explains how different countries around the world celebrate the New Year in different ways and at different times. This is a good reading activity to do when students come back after Christmas break. After reading, students can discuss and write about New Year's traditions in their own homes, and share any New Year resolutions they may have made. - HappyEdugator

A great way to ease back into the year. The students will be interested in learning and sharing some customs. Easy to add on new assignments with this base of facts. Thanks!

I have a total of 20 years teaching experience. After I received my M.Ed. from the University of Florida, I began teaching in elementary school, where I taught pull-out remedial classes for grades 2-5. Then I taught Pre-K for 5 years, before I decided to go up to Middle School, where I have been in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I am currently teaching 7th grade. I am certified in Elementary Education as well as in Middle Grades in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I am certified as a Teacher Support Specialist. I have an endorsement in Reading K-12, and I also completed my Gifted and Talented Endorsement.
