Hazardous Duty Bible Study Packet
This packet includes materials to do a Bible study/ Christian Book Club for the novel Hazardous Duty by Christy Barritt (Novel available from local book sellers or Amazon.com). Materials are broken into 4 sessions and include hints for group leaders or someone using the materials solo.
Each session has 3 components: Connecting with others (discussion prompts for the group) Connecting with God’s Word), (scriptures and more discussion questions) and Connecting with yourself (prompts for prayer or personal reflection).
Parallels are made between Gabby and Biblical characters such as Esther and David. Samples of the sessions:
Session 1 includes “making lemons from lemonade” in the lives of Esther, Paul and Silas
Session 2: Someone else in charge, vulnerability of the heart vs. self defense
Session 3: Dealing with feelings of powerlessness, living at peace with enemies
Session 4: Faith, trials and joy; God’s invisible qualities evident in creation
Hazardous Duty is the second novel in the Squeaky Clean mystery series about crime scene cleaner Gabby St. Claire, a young single adult, who aside from having an unusual job and a penchant for falling into trouble with murder investigations, is like most of us struggling with dating, family problems, career choices, balancing finances and the meaning of life.
