This is a heat experiment project that is completed at home (most likely). Students would need to have a good idea of insulators in order to complete this project. This printable sheet explains the project. It is the letter that would go home with the students. The project itself is really fun. My students have always loved it. They will be designing a 'cooler', and the experiment is to see whose cooler is best at keeping the icecubes from melting. When you test the coolers you need to make sure you bring in enough ice cubes for each student to have one, and they need to be the same size. You will be amazed because I have had kids that have completely melted ice cubes and then those that are completely frozen. It's a fun heat experiment.
