Heat Wave ~ Language Arts Workbook ~ 4th Grade

This is a 13 page workbook to accompany the story "Heat Wave" by Helen Ketteman. Skills covered include: author's purpose, punctuation and quotation marks, multiple meaning words/using a thesaurus, combining sentences, compound/simple sentences, fact/opinion, structural pattern, synonyms/antonyms, making connections, reference materials, possessives, spelling/language conventions, writing skills, figurative language, vocabulary, identifying narrator, genre, prefixes/suffixes, prepositions, coordinating conjunctions, verbs and adverbs, alternate endings, compare/contrast, contractions, reality/fantasy, proper nouns, and cause and effect. This workbook is an invaluable tool in covering state standards and helping 4th grade students with comprehension and numerous language arts skills. The page numbers referenced in this workbook correspond to the story in the Houghton Mifflin® Anthology "Traditions" from their California Reading program. If you are using another version of "Heat Wave", this will still be useful to you, but you may have to modify a few things.
