Helen Alexander, an aborigine raised in a remote area of Australia's Northern Territory. In a family with little money, faces an ethical career choice. She graduates from college as a geologist and is hired by a mining company. The company has discovered lead deposits in a sacred aboriginal area. Development of the lead deposits will mean violating the spiritual importance of the land, but will also provide economic prosperity and new jobs. Discussion questions provided.
