Help Wanted: Elves for Santa's Workshop Writing and Craft Activity
Santa is looking for elves to work in the workshop at the North Pole and has placed a Help Wanted Ad in the newspaper. For this activity, students will create an elf and then write a letter to Santa explaining the elf's character traits that would make him/her the perfect elf for the job. The letters and elves make an adorable hallway display for the holidays.
This packet includes:
- Teacher's Notes/Overview
- Help Wanted Ad from Santa
- Elf Characteristics Brainstorming Sheet
- Letter to Santa Planning Sheet
- 2-page letter stationery and 1 page letter stationery
- Step-By-Step Instructions with pictures for making the elves
- Templates to make the elf (copy templates and trace on to construction paper)
I hope you and your kids enjoy this writing and craft activity.
Happy Holidays!
Nicole

This activity is fantastic! We are going to alter it for a grade 1 french class :) This is a great alternative to writting a letter to santa, especially since I am in the public board and not all my kids celebrate christmas!
Hope to use this activity this year.... last year was too busy! Thx

I recently made my first purchases from teacherslayteachers and cannot say how thrilled I am with the ideas I've gotten! I'm a special needs teacher and am always looking for ideas to use in the inclusion classrooms I work in. I've already made color copies of the elves writing unit and cannot wait to begin the activity with the 2nd and 3rd graders. I love the idea of hanging the elves in the hallway too! Thank you so much!!!'
This was one of the cutest units I've ever done! The children absolutley loved it!!! They had to sell theirself to Santa and we had our assistant principal come in and choose the top two elves to be sent to the North Pole!
Hi! This was a great unit - my Grade 3/4 class really enjoyed making the elves, and they looked very cute hanging in the hallway waiting for Christmas!
Oh, I am so glad to hear that! My kids loved the writing activity too. Making the elves actually made them feel like they were writing about a "real" character. Thanks for letting me know that your kids enjoyed the project.
I love the writing section of this packet! My 5th grade is departmentalized so we won't have time to make the elf. But I think I'll have them color the picture of the small elf that you provided to go with their letter. Thanks for your creativity!
That is a wonderful idea if you are in a time crunch! I am so glad that you like the activity. Thank you so much for your feedback and your purchase! :)
